Spoken Word: GOHN and Alpha Aquarii
House Sessions is a two track mix of poems by GOHN read over the guitar handiwork of Alpha Aquarii.
GOHN & Alpha Aquarii are the stage names of Lewistown Pennsylvania natives Randi Fellows and Ethan Ammerman. GOHN describes themselves as a feeling, disguised as a spoken word artist. While Alpha Aquarii describes themselves as a vast, humdrum like state of organic ambience, dancing amongst droning oscillations of freeform expression.
When asked about how House Sessions came to be, Randi answered: "House Sessions was the manifestation of a deep dark sense of self, one brought on from years of regurgitating self doubt, loath and regret. This all began one evening in Ethan’s living room, sometime over the beginning of October. I think we were both looking for some relief or catharsis, letting out the evil or something, which turned out to be a lot of fun."
Alpha Aquarii tends to lose themself among all of the restless tritonic dissonance they produces; pairing multiple guitar pedals in unison while painting the landscape, attempting to contort the traditional sounds of the guitar. While GOHN confesses their sins. It’s weird, it’s faceless while strong with manically percussive blows to the soul.
House sessions is a tender punch to the face. Intimate and raw, bleak yet uplifting. All these dynamics combine in an honest effort to strip you of your daily armor. As for this duo, you can only expect an even larger expansion upon their own sonic pallet and quite possibly the addition of a part time percussionist in the progression of 2018.
